Local Firm Receives AAF District 9 ADDY® Award.
WDG Communications, Inc., Cedar Rapids, has won a Silver ADDY® at AAF District 9 ADDY® competition for their entry of One Week In June...The Iowa Floods of 2008 in the category of Collateral Book Design (Entire Book). The District 9 win follows a win of a Gold ADDY® award in the same category in the local AAF Cedar Rapids/Iowa City Chapter ADDY® awards earlier this year. Only local winners are allowed into district ADDY® competition.
One Week In June...The Iowa Floods of 2008 written by Jeff Stein is a pictorial documentary of the 2008 historical natural disaster. The book chronicles through moving narration and stunning photography, the life-altering events that occurred between Monday, June 9 and Father’s Day, June 15, 2008. During that fateful week, the Cedar River swelled and rolled South, the Iowa River, to the West, was also growing and leaving destruction in their wake. The two rivers join, in a confluence, just northeast of Columbus Junction and flow on to the Mississippi River.
The ADDYs are the advertising industry's largest and most representative competition, attracting over 50,000 entries every year in local ADDY competitions. The mission of the ADDY® competition is to recognize and reward creative excellence in the art of advertising. Conducted annually by the American Advertising Federation (AAF), the local ADDY® Awards is the first of a three-tiered, national competition. Concurrently, all across the country, local entrants vie for recognition as the very best in their markets. At the second tier, local winners compete against other winners in one of 14 District competitions. District winners are then forwarded to the third tier, the National ADDY Awards competition.
